ちなみに英語でのand, orの違いは否定文のときにより大切となる。せっかくここまで触れたのだから説明しておくよ。今度はちゃんと英文の例ね。 It is not the case that he is kind and rich.「彼は親切かつ金持ちな訳じゃない。」 =He is not kind or he is not rich.
ということは彼は親切で金持ちを同時に満たしているわけじゃないから、彼はそのどちらかだ、と想像できる。即ち全否定の文でなく部分否定ということになる。
一方 It is not the case that he is kind or rich.「彼は親切または金持ちな訳じゃない。」 =He is not kind and he is not rich.
彼は親切でも金持ちでもどちらでもない、ということになる。即ち全否定になる。
ド・モルガンの定理とか言うと分かりにくいので単にnot...A and B→部分否定、not...A or B→全否定と覚えるといいと思う。
参考のためにド・モルガンの定理はこんな感じ。 not (A and B) = not A or not B
not (A or B) = not A and not B
